The vision of CC is to become a world leader in adventure based charity fund drives and youth development programs. CC is an organization dedicated to the development of at-risk teens and youth charities through the use of adventure based events, programs, and films. CC educates at-risk teens and youth through inspirational speeches and adventure programs that are used to help develop the skills of positive leadership, personal resourcefulness, and teamwork. The organization focuses on using unique and extreme experiences to gain media attention, produce films, and create events that are used to help generate funding and awareness for youth charities. Whether it’s speaking to at-risk teens or running adventure trips for youth or charity awareness, we are driven to help develop and fullfill the vision of youth and charities. It is our mission to improve the vision of our youth by exposing them to new forms of entertainment and healthy activities, pulling them away from the more sedimentary life of computer games or destructive life of gang activity. We are also focused on helping youthy charities fulfill their vision by providing financial support and awareness. Over the past few years our founder, Carl Drew, has made a conscious decision to personally strive for excellence, so that his life might be an example for others. He has discovered that a large portion of achieving the impossible is in direct conjunction with health, positive role models, and support teams. Carl has invested his time to share this philosophy by coaching peers on how to improve their lives through different levels of training. Carl has guided individuals through the basic physical, emotional, and mental development needed for everyday life, and others through the more rigorous, concentrated preparation necessary for more focused life accomplishments such as triathlons and mountain climbing. We feel it imperative to share the value of Leadership, Personal Development, Health and Wellness, and Personal Pursuit of Dreams with our youth. This is done by helping them to get in shape, experience adventure, and have the “Get out There” attitude our founder has adopted. We all have dreams, but many of us keep them in the REM state. We need to tap into our core and wake a Vision from out of our dreams. Once an individual has faith in a Vision they will have access to the energy they need to achieve that Vision. Vision convinces us to believe and belief convicts us to action. CC helps teens by sharing with them the Vision of past achievers and how they created the mindset to overcome challenges and obstacles. With this knowledge teens can find the courage to begin to follow their own path and maintain the ability to re-kindle their Vision even when it might seem to lie dormant. CC helps to develop and fulfill the dreams of youth and charities by tying them into extreme adventures, films, and programs. CC is using Carl's climb of K2 to create awareness and funding for charities. We are inspired by the potential impact of this experience through the distribution of the documentary and the charity fundraising that will continue up to and through the sale of the film. We are also excited about the adventure and challenges Carl will encounter on the mountain, which will establish a platform for incredible motivational material and meeting new challenges.
History: Prior
to graduating college Carl Drew (Founder of CC) had aspirations of
attending Medical School,
however he was not convinced the medical field was the best venue for
him to express his passion for helping others. Over the next five years
he pursued a random list of interests trying to define how he could
most greatly impact others. Exhilarated by his variety of experiences
he gained a new approach to his goal. Carl began to formulate a vision
of how to encourage people by sharing his personal struggles and achievements
through motivational speaking, filmmaking, triathlons, and adventure
trips. Carl went on to receive a certificate in Digital Video Production from New York University in 2001, the Certified Toastmaster Award (An award from an international speaking organization) in 2002, and he began training mentally and physically to climb some of the highest mountains within North and South America. Dreaming that perhaps one day he may have the chance to climb the most challenging mountain in the world, K2, Carl summited 30 mountains in one year. His experience included climbing the five highest mountains in Ecuador (all above 17,000 feet), Mt. McKinley in Alaska (20,240 feet), and working as a glacier and ice-climbing guide in Wrangell-St.Elias National Park.
CC was developed by "accident". In May 2003, to keep in shape for climbing, Carl trained for Ironman competitions. During seven months of training he completed 5 Half Ironman Triathlons and 1 Full Distance Ironman Triathlon. He was in the best shape of his life, and was ready to head to the Himalayas to climb the highest mountains on earth. In 2004 he was offered sponsorship, but ironically a week later, while biking, he was struck by a vehicle. His physical injuries included memory loss, a shoulder separation, and a crushed disk in his back. However, these injuries where secondary to the emotional devastation he experienced facing depression, loneliness, and financial loss. Unable to work, exercise, or interact with others, he felt as though he had lost control of his life. While laying around in his bed, depressed at the unfortunate circumsances life had delt him, Carl surfed accross the website for Locks of Love. Upon seeing photos of girls who had lost their hair to cancer treatments and disease, Carl realized he had much to be thankful for. He also realized there was still a way he could help others. By commiting to growing his 1" hair out to 10" he could donate it to the LOL charity. After a challenging year of recovery Carl was back on the bike training and finished another triathlon. In November 2005 Carl's climbing partner, Kurt, took the initiative to share Carl's prerequisites with the organizer of an expedition to climb K2. Carl was accepted as 1 of only 20 team members from to entire applicant pool. K2 at 28,250 ft is the second highest mountain and is known to be the “Hardest Mountain on Earth”. It has been summited by only 14 Americans. With the encouragement of friends and family Carl decided to accept his spot on the team and dedicate the climb to helping others. Your sponsorship will help Carl attempt a once in a lifetime opportunity; the ultimate adventure of health, fitness, and personal development. It will also give Carl the experience and skills necessary to continue his mission to create motivational programming from the physical and mental challenges he experiences during the climb. The climb and film of K2 will serve as the launching pad for CC. It will also help CC achieve an event that will internationally impact millions through the documentary, motivational programming, fundraising, and awareness partnerships we have established in the US and Pakistan specifically for this journey. Please help us to achieve our vision. |
